In the second tournament of the 2023 season, a picture-perfect day weather-wise made for some great play, including the first perfect games thrown on the season.
With a smaller field of teams, Pool Play consisted of every team playing four games against their opponents. In total, each team played 12 Pool Play games. After tying in record at 9-3 and also splitting their series 2-2, Eric Klavoon & Jon Sandino (Stallion Survivors) claimed the #1 seed by winning the 3rd tiebreaker (best PPR in games against each other) over Charles Rizzo & Josh Greenauer (Seven).
Jekyll and Hyde, consisting of Zach Lander & Eric Green from Pittsburgh, PA, landed the #3 seed, while Derek Schultz & Brian Schultz (What The) took the #4 seed.
In Round 1 of Bracket Play, Klavoon/Sandino (#1) defeated D. Schultz/B. Schultz (#4) 3-0 in the best-of-five series. In the other series, Rizzo/Greenauer (#2) took down Lander/Green (#3) three games to one. As a side note, Zach Lander threw the only Win Shot of the tournament in this series.
In the 3rd Place game, D. Schultz/B. Schultz (#4) beat Lander/Green (#3) to finish 3rd place. In the best-of-5 Finals, Rizzo/Greenauer (#2) took a commanding 2-0 series lead. Klavoon/Sandino (#1) bounced back in Game 3 with a win on a much needed 2-pointer. Rizzo/Greenauer stormed back in Game 4 to win the series 3-1, claiming the crown of 2023 Discflect Summer Open Champions! For Rizzo, it is his second win of the 2023 season.

The opening tournament of the 2023 season featured rainy and windy conditions, resulting in some very interesting gameplay, with some games maxing out at eight rounds. In total, there were also three Win Shots thrown, all through the slot.
For Pool Play, every team played 10 games, with Charles Rizzo & Ajay Cybulski (Young Guns) claiming the #1 seed with a record of 9-1. The top two teams received a bye for the first round of the bracket, which included #2 seed Jon Sandino & Chad Cowell (JC Dynasty).
In the first round, #3 seed Micah Fairbanks & Jacob Fairbanks (Total Discheads) took down Ultimate enthusiasts and newcomers, #6 seed Flat Ballers Inc (Benjamin Goodman & Jeffrey Woelfel), while Matthew Lafferty & Connor Pierce (Macon Pilaf, #4 seed) defeated David Morrison & Clay Baron (Medical Trening, #5 seed).
Rizzo/Cybulski swept Lafferty/Pierce in the Semi-Finals best-of-5 series, while Sandino/Cowell took down M. Fairbanks/J. Fairbanks also in three games to advance. In the Finals, the wind picked up, resulting in one of the games going all eight rounds. In the end, Rizzo/Cybulski won the series 3-1 to be crowned champions of the first-ever Discflect Season Kickoff tournament.
